Western Heights - Click Image [+]

The Western Heights are a complex collection of wartime defences dating back to 1780 sited just west of Dover Castle. Built initially to ward off attack from the French (the attack that never came), some parts have been renovated, some reflect the ravages of time and neglect.

Welcome to the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership (formerly the White Cliffs Countryside Project)

The White Cliffs Countryside Partnership was set up to help conserve and enhance the special coast and countryside of Dover and Shepway districts, and make it accessible to all.

The coast and countryside of Dover and Shepway are world class for their wildlife and history.  The white cliffs are world famous and for centuries have been the gateway to and from England.

The White Cliffs Countryside Partnership was established in 1989 to develop sustainable tourism that helps to preserve the environment and local distinctiveness of the area, both for visitors and for local people alike.

There are lots of places to visit and lots to do to enjoy the countryside.  You can see wildlife, go walking, enjoy cycling, take part in special activities for children (the Green Gang) or join with local people helping care for the local environment.

This web site provides all the information you need to know to explore the coast and countryside of Dover and Shepway.

Following recent updates from the Government on the coronavirus outbreak, the decision has been taken to cancel all WCCP and RMCP events starting from tomorrow (Wednesday 18th March 2020) for the foreseeable future. This means that all the events currently advertised in the Discover guided walks booklet for autumn/winter 19/20 will be cancelled. We have also postponed the production of our events programme for the summer and the Green Gang family activities programme for the Easter holidays. Making the decision to do this has been very disappointing but, given the latest Government advice we believe it is necessary. Thank you for all your support and we all send our thoughts and wishes and hope you, your family, colleagues and friends are all staying safe and doing what you can to keep well in these uncertain times.
