Experiences

Join one of our Samphire Hoe Experiences for a unique day out on the Kent coast.

Ideal for yourself or the perfect gift, we offer two different experiences at Samphire Hoe. Watch this video to find out more.

Birdwatching at Samphire Hoe

Be one of the first to join a new experience birdwatching off Samphire Hoe - the spectacular nature reserve at the foot of the imposing White Cliffs of Dover.

Starting your day with tea and biscuits in the cosy, fire-heated shelter, you’ll meet one of our friendly local Rangers. Sharing their expert knowledge, they’ll guide you through what to look out for before handing you your binoculars and walking out to Samphire Hoe, where you might be in with a chance to see rare black redstarts and the fastest creature in the world — the peregrine falcon!

You’ll help leave a real legacy too, as the birds you spot will be added to national databases to help protect entire species of birds for future generations. After an incredible morning of bird sightings in every hidden corner of the reserve, we’ll take you back to the shelter where you can tuck into some local homemade food as the ranger answers any questions and shares even more local expertise with you.

We’ll leave you with a signed copy of Shakespeare Cliff: A People’s History — so you can discover even more stories from the people who made Kent their home.

Cost: £60 per person

Ranger for a day

Discover what it means to be a ranger at Samphire Hoe — the spectacular nature reserve at the foot of the iconic White Cliffs of Dover.

Starting your day with tea and biscuits in the cosy, fire-heated shelter, you’ll meet our very own rangers, who will talk you through a day in their life and tell you what to look out for during the Experience.

We'll then take you on an exploration of Samphire Hoe, revealing the reserve's hidden gems and telling you about the area's fascinating history. You'll get to check livestock, help monitor the local wildlife and even discover the wildlife of the strandline as you take part in beach conservation.

After an insightful morning, we’ll take you back to the shelter where you can tuck into some local homemade food and chat with our ranger about the morning's events — but be sure to take advantage of their local expertise so you can go on to uncover even more of what Kent has to offer.

We’ll leave you with a signed copy of Shakespeare Cliff: A People’s History — so you can discover even more stories from the people who made Kent their home.
